Defense minister meets sheikhs of Abyan
ABYAN, March 31 (Saba)- Minister of Defense Mohammed Nasir along
with the Abyan governor Ahmed al-Misari held on Tuesday a meeting
for local councils, sheikhs and religious scholars as well as
security and military commanders in the governorate.
In the meeting, the minister pointed out to the role of all to
settle security and stability, saying that the current security
measures are targeting gangs who committed killing and looting acts
especially in Ja'ar city.
"These gangs have taken advantage of democracy and freedom since the
unification in 2009, not to contribute to development process, but
to commit illegal actions which damage interests of citizens
basically," he said.The minister affirmed that the security campaign
would continue until arrest all wanted elements, saying that 20
wanted persons arrested until now.
He highlighted popular and official efforts to face these elements
that committed terror acts during the previous period, saying that
these elements would be sent to justice.
The participants expressed their support for the recent security
campaign by the government to arrest these elements.
