SOVEREIGNTY PARTY PICKS RIZAL RAMLI AS PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE
Jakarta, April 1 (ANTARA) - The Sovereignty Party (PK) has chosen former economic affairs coordinating minister Rizal Ramli as its presidential candidate.
The party formally nominated Ramli president at a function here on Wednesday.
"He is the right choice because his vision on and efforts to uphold the people's sovereignty accord with our party's," PK Chairman Ibrahim Basrah said on the occasion.
Ramli was at the same time also appointed as chairman of the PK's advisory council. "So, as of today, Pak Ramli is a PK cadre," Busrah said.
He said the Sovereignly Party had set itself the target of winning five percent of the votes in the legislative elections on April 9.
Ramli who was coordinating minister for economic affairs under former President Abudurrahman Wahid, meanwhile, said " I am pleased that the Sovereignty Party is fighting for the upholding of the people's sovereignty in this country." ***
