PROBOWO TO MEET KUPANG ARCHBISHOP BEFORE CONCLUDING CAMPAIGN

Kupang, Indonesia, April 1 (ANTARA) - Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party Advisory Council chairman Prabowo Subyanto Djojohadikusumo is scheduled to meet with Kupang Archbishop Mgr Petrus Turang before attending the party's last campaign rally in Atambua, Belu district, on Thursday (April 2).

"The meeting between Prabowo and Mgr Turang will proceed in a family atmosphere," Gerindra spokesman for East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) polling area Fary Djemi Francis said here on Wednesday.

Francis said after the meeting, Prabowo would fly by helicopter to Atambua to lead the final grand campaign rally of Gerindra at the border between Indonesia and Timor Leste.

Earlier, Prabowo took part in a campaign rally in Ende district, East Nusa Tenggara, on March 22, 2009.

In his political oration at the Bung Karno sport stadium in Jakarta on Tuesday, Prabowo said he was only a "wayang" (puppet in Javanese traditional shadow plays) in the party's endeavor to bring about change for a better future for Indonesia.

Prabowo said there was no KKN (corruption, collusion, and nepotism) in Gerindra but it was his brother, Hasjim Djojohadikusumo, who was the brain behind the party's formation.
On the occasion, Prabowo said Gerindra was ready to make a change for a better Indonesian in the next 50 years.

Therefore, he urged all Gerindra supporters and sympathizers across the country to use their right to vote in the April 9 legislative elections.

Meanwhile, Golkar Party chairman Jusuf Kalla who is concurrently vice president, also met with Kupang's arch bishop on Sunday, March 29, 2009, in conjunction with the party's campaign rally in the East Nusa Tenggara provincial city.

In the meeting, Jusuf Kalla and Mgr Petrus Turang discussed a lot of things including the switch of legislative election date on April 9 in the districts of East Flores and Lembata because it would be in conjunction with Easter holiday for Catholics community in the districts.

Vice president Jusuf Kalla in principle agreed on the switch of election date from April 9 to April 14, 2009 in the two districts.
