PRESIDENT YUDHOYONO TO MEET JAPANESE PM IN LONDON
London, April 1 (ANTARA) - On the second day of his working visit to attend the G-20 summit here Wednesday, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso.
The meeting was to take place in a meeting room of JW Marriott Hotel's Grosvenor House at 2:30 p.m. local time or 8.30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
In their meeting, Yudhoyono and Aso would discuss various issues related to bilateral relations between the two countries and exchange views on the G-20 summit which was to open on Wednesday night.
Indonesia and Japan had cooperated earlier in drafting the mechanism for bilateral swap arrangements to provide reserve funds to face the global financial crisis.
Before the meeting with Aso, President Yudhyono was also scheduled to hold another bilateral meeting with Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva at 10.20 on Wednesday morning at the Marriott Hotel.
The Thai prime minister is also in London for a working visit to attend the G-20 summit.
Vejjajiva had said earlier that he would defend the developing countries at the G-20 summit to oppose protectionism which was feared to be detrimental to all countries in critical conditions.
After the meeting with the Thai prime minister, the Indonesian head of state would receive the Duke of York or Prince Andrew at 11.25 on Wednesday morning at the Marriott Hotel, and after that Yudhoyono would also meet with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the same venue.
At 5 in the afternoon, President Yudhoyono would proceed to Clarence House to meet with Prince Charles.
Presidential spokesman Dino Pati Djalal said President Yudhoyono and Prince Charles would discuss issues related to forestry and climate change.
After that, the Indonesian head of state would head to Buckingham Palace to attend a reception to be hosted by Queen Elizabeth II and a banquet to be hosted by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown at Downing Street for G-20 member countries' heads of state/government to mark the start of the G-20 summit.***
