BEI INDEX OPENS HIGHER EARLY FRIDAY
Jakarta, April 3 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Composite Stock Price Index (IHSC) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) got off to a strong start here early Friday as the country's stock market was still positive.
The BEI index opened 5.190 points or 0.35 percent higher to 1,505.921 and the LQ index gained 2.132 points to 300,045.
The Indonesian stocks earlier tumbled 4.444 points but later surged after 10 minutes of trading thanks to positive sentiment from the rupiah gains to Rp11,300 per US dollar, Alfiansyah, analyst of PT Sinarmas Sekuritas, said here on Friday.
"We are positive the BEI index in late morning trading will further move upward to the position of over 1,500 points," he said.
Investors also waited for the result of a planned meeting of the Board of Bank Indonesia Governors, which is expected to cut BI benchmark.
Among shares which gained at the Jakarta bourse were Indosat shares that surged Rp150 to Rp5,300 per share, United Tractor shares that jumped Rp100 to Rp7,700 per share, Gudang Garam shares that went up Rp100 to Rp6,200 per share.
State telecommunication company PT Telkom shares increased Rp50 to Rp7,250, Bukit Asam shares advanced Rp100 to Rp7,000, Bank Danamon shares added Rp50 to Rp2,525 and BTPN shares gained Rp70 to Rp1,3330 per share. ***
