PRESIDENT ISSUES NEW REGULATION ON DOWNSTREAM OIL/GAS INDUSTRY
Jakarta, April 3 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has issued Government Regulation No. 30 / 2009 on Amendment of Government Regulation No. 36 / 2004 on Down Stream Oil and Gas Business Activities, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
The ministry said in press statement made available here on Friday the government regulation was signed by the president on March 24, 2009 and consisted of two articles.
Article 1 said that provision as regulated by article 72 of Government Regulation No. 36, 2004 was amended so that it would read that the prices of fuel oils and natural gas would be regulated and/or decided by the government.
Article 2 in the meantime said that the new regulation would be in force as of the date of its enactment.
The new government regulation was issued as a follow up of a Constitutional Court (MK) ruling which said that Article 28, Article 2 and Article 3 of Law No.22 2001 on oil and natural gas has no binding legal regulations.
As a result, Government Regulation No. 36 / 2004 needed to be revised as an implementation of Law No. 22 / 2001.***
