INDONESIAN, AUSTRALIAN AIR FORCES TO STEP UP COOPERATION
Jakarta, April 4 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) and its Australian counterpart, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), have agreed to step up cooperation in the fields of education and joint exercises, a TNI-AU spokesman said.
The agreement was reached at a meeting between the chief of the Indonesian Air Force's Operations Command Region II (Koopsau) II), Rear Marshal Sayuti, and the Australian air attache, Col Raymon Press, in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Friday, the Koopsau II's information officer, Maj Sus Sonaji Wibowo, said.
So far, cooperation between the two air forces had been carried out through , among others, the Elang Ausindo joint exercises and joint sea patrols along the two countries' marine border in efforts to fight transnational crimes such as illegal fishing, illegal logging, transportaton of narcotics and other illegal drugs.
