Taj receives second e-mail threat

Mumbai, Apr 3 (PTI) Days after receiving a threat
e-mail originating from Pakistan, another such mail was
received by the Hotel Taj Mahal Palace and Tower on March 31
threatening to carry out an explosion, police officials said.

"The e-mail was received by Hotel Taj in Mumbai on its
official e-mail ID and has been traced to Pakistan," they
said.

The mail was unsigned and stated that an explosion
would be carried out without specifying the date, the
officials said.

"The e-mail ID from which the mail was sent seemed to
have been created recently," they said.

This is the second threat e-mail received by the
hotel, one of the sites of the November 26 terror strikes, the
earlier one received by the Chennai unit of the hotel chain.

One wing of the hotel, the Heritage Taj Palace, is
under renovation following the terror strikes while the other
wing is operational.

Security had been heightened at the hotel following
the receipt of the first threat e-mail.

The earlier mail, which was also unsigned, was also
traced to Pakistan and police authorities had said they were
carrying out investigations. PTI AG
