Bahrain participates in ACD group meeting

Bangkok, July 18 (BNA): Bahrain participated in the High Level Working Group (HLWG)'s Meeting on Organizational Structure of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue. The Bahraini delegation was headed by the Director of the Afro-Asian Affairs Directorate, Muna Abbas Mahmood Radhi, in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 18-19. Radhi expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the efforts exerted by the friendly Kingdom of Thailand to coordinate with member states in order to enhance ACD and establish a regulatory mechanism to appoint a Secretary-General for the Dialogue to develop and promote the work of the ACD. She also thanked the outgoing Secretary-General of the ACD, Bundit Limschoon of the Kingdom of Thailand for his continued efforts and dedication to the goals of the ACD since he took this position. She also thanked the Kingdom of Thailand for its central role in establishing the ACD in 2001, expressing her appreciation for the State of Kuwait for hosting the ACD Secretariat. Radhi also affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain has been a founding member of the ACD since its establishment and that it continues to adhere to its objectives and principles. She added that these principals are based on building the various strengths and potentialities of Asia and recognizing the efforts of all member states and their outstanding contribution to the development of the ACD, particularly in the field of ​​enhancing cooperation among member states and strengthening partnerships in the six cooperation areas: the relationship between food, energy and water security, communication, science, technology and innovation, education and human resources development and encouraging ways of promoting comprehensive and sustainable development as well as tourism and culture. In a welcome speech delivered by the Director General of the Department of International Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Dr. Vilawan Mangklatanakul, she thanked ACD member states for their interest in developing a mechanism for organizing the ACD and appointing its Secretary-General. The participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain reflects its status as a founding member of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue and mirrors its belief in the capabilities of the Asian continent and the benefits of joint work in various fields.
