President directs assistances for Jewish Easter
SANA'A, April 04 (Saba)-President Ali Abdullah Saleh has issued
directives to provide Yemeni Jewish families with clothes and
animals to be slaughtered for celebrating their Easter Eid.
The state- run sebtember.net website said that Saleh ordered the
Yemeni Economic Corporation to provide these assistances on this
occasion responding to call from the Rabbi Yahya Yousof.
Earlier, Yousof, the Rabbi of the Yemeni Jewish families living in
the Tourist City in Sana'a had appealed the president to help their
children with clothes to celebrate their Easter Eid.
Easter starts tomorrow Sunday and lasts for seven days. In the
ceremony, the Jewish families exchange visits and perform prayers.
"We used to receive the Eid with our needs and requirements ready
for the ceremony," spoke Yousof to journalists.
"But in this Eid, we could not buy clothes to our children and
buying animals to be slaughtered," said he. "We are poor people
without work but depend on what the president's support."
A few numbers of Jewish families of Yemeni origin are living in the
Tourist City in Sana'a after leaving their houses in Sa'ada because
of the government war with Houthis in Sa'ada. The war has erupted in
2004.
These families were transformed to Sana'a from Sa'ada upon
directives from the president Saleh for protecting their lives.
