HASAN TIRO TO MONITOR LEGISLATIVE ELECTIONS IN ACEH

Kuala Lumpur, April 4 (ANTARA) - Hasan Tiro, the declarer of former Aceh Free Movement (GAM), will monitor the implementation of the legislative election in Aceh.

Hasan Tiro has already been in Selangor, Malaysia, Indonesia ambassador to Malaysia Dai Bachtiar confirmed here on Saturday.

"Indeed Hasan Tiro has been in Malaysia for the past several days and some embassy staff have also met his personal secretary in Shah Alam, Selangor," he said after attending the inauguration of election monitoring committees for seven consulates general in three foreign countries.

He said he had no plan to meet Tiro or invite him to the embassy because it was his personal visit.

Tiro arrived in Malaysia on March 31. He plans to monitor the implementation of the legislative election in Aceh on April 9. He will even come to his home village on April for the purpose.

However his visit to Aceh will be determined by his health condition as well as security condition in the region. If he failed to come to Aceh he would conduct the monitoring from Malaysia.

His arrival in Malaysia was secretive. Several former GAM commanders could not be contacted by cell phones for the past few days.
