RI COMPANIES SEEKING ACCESS TO CENTRAL CHINA MARKET

Xi'an, April 4 (ANTARA) - Several Indonesian companies are seeking access to Central China market by participating in a trade and investment fair in Xi'an in the province of Shaanxi.

"The participation is part of our effort to penetrate Central China that has not yet been much exploited so far," trade attache of the Indonesian embassy in Beijing, Imbang Listiyadi, said here on Saturday.

Ten Indonesian companies took part in the fair from April 5 to 8 that was also attended by hundreds of local companies as well as companies from various foreign countries.

Indonesia presents various potential products such as cooking oil, foods and beverages, furniture and household utensils as well as tourism potentials.

Indonesia is currently seeking to diversify its export markets to various regions in China. So far its market in China has been concentrated in the western and southern parts.

"So far trade with China has been concentrated in the western and southern parts while the central part has not yet attracted much attention of the Indonesian companies," he said.

In view of that he said the participation of a number of Indonesian companies in the fair was important and strategic.

He said Indonesia would use the opportunity to introduce its potential products and services to the local people and businessmen who possibly had not yet known much about them while it was not impossible that a lot of trade and investment potentials were available for Indonesia and Shaanxi province to develop.

He said Indonesia kept seeking market breakthroughs to Chinese regions that had not yet been exploited so far such as Xinjiang and Ningxia.

He said Indonesia also participated in the trade fair in Urumuqi, Xinjiang, in August 2008, offering various processed food products and tourism. ***2***
