To dismantle terror infrastructure in Pak's interest: Pranab

New Delhi, Apr 5 (PTI) In the wake of series of blasts in
Pakistan in the last two days, India Sunday said it was in
Islamabad's own interest to dismantle terror infrastructure.

It welcomed introduction of a bill in the US Congress
which links financial aid to Pakistan to the condition that it
stops supporting terror groups active in India.

"It is in the interest of Pakistan to dismantle terror
network and bring the perpetrators to task," India's External
Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said when asked to comment
on the recent spate of terror attacks in the neighbouring
country.

He said India favoured peace in the neighbourhood.

On the bill in the US Congress, Mukherjee said, "any
effort by the international community to ensure that Pakistan
fulfills its international obligations is welcome."

He pointed out that India has been persistent in
demanding that Pakistan fulfill its bilateral, regional and
international obligations to fight terrorism.

Pakistan had committed to India in January 2004 that its
territory will not be allowed to be used by terrorists to
carry out attack in India, Mukherjee said.

"This was reiterated by present President Asif Ali
Zaradari to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in September 2008,"
he said.

Mukherjee noted that Pakistan was party to the SAARC
Anti-Terror Convention as also to various UN resolutions to
fight against terrorism.
