KALLA BELIEVES M'SIAN PM NAJIB ABLE TO OVERCOME PROBLEMS

Surakarta, C Java, April 4 (ANTARA) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla said here on Saturday he believed Malaysia's new prime minister, Mohd Najib Tun Razak, would be quite able to overcome his country's present problems because of his long experience.

"I am convinced PM Najib will be able to solve Malaysia's economic and political problems because he has much experience," Kalla said at the airport in Surakarta, Central Java, before returning to Jakarta.

Kalla was in Surakarta, Central Java, for a campaign in his capacity as chairman of the Golkar Party.

He said he had promtply congratulated PM Najib by phone upon the latter's ascension to his new post. Kalla who is a long-time friend of Najib said Malaysia would continue to develop its relations with Indonesia "although the two countries are currently facing problems in the economic field."
He said he hoped PM Najib would be able to immediately overcome the economic as well as political problems in his country.

King Mizan Zainal Abidid installed Najib as the new Malaysian prime minister to replace Abdullah Badawi who resigned, ending a political crisis in that country.***1***
