SEVERAL POLLING STATIONS IN AUSTRALIA USE ONLINE SYSTEM
Brisbane, April 6 (ANTARA) - A number of polling stations (TPS) in New South Wales (NSW), Queensland, and South Australia were equipped with broadband Telstra and two units of laptop to support the online system on eligible voters data for the April 9 polls.
Chairman of overseas vote cast organizing committee (KPPSLN) for Brisbane, Cecep Setiawan said Monday, his side had received two units of broadband Telstra, and based on directives from the Sydney
"Indonesia's Overseas Election Committee" (PPLN), his side will rent two laptops to support the working process in Brisbane polling stations.
Cecep also said in a bid to help accelerate vote cast in the Brisbane polling stations located at Queensland university campus, St.Lucia, his side had received some 1,650 ballot papers, two bottles of ink and six ballot boxes to serve a total of 1,406 eligible voters.
"We are still waiting for the ballot box-seal stickers before April 9 (vote casting day)," he said.
Earlier, Pratito Soeharyo, the Sydney PPLN member said the eligible voters in NSW, Queensland, and South Australia, if happen to fail to visit polling stations in the states, they can cast votes at other polling stations by showing passports and invitation to vote because the Sydney PPLN used online system.
He said further that the polling stations committee personnel will not serve the Indonesian citizens who were not recorded in the permanent voter lists in accordance with the regulation, but their names will be recorded at the provisional voters list for the presidential election.
At least some 16,200 eligible voters were recorded at the Sydney PPLN.
Some 38 political parties in the country will participate in the legislative polls on April 9, while the direct presidential election will be held on July 8, 2009
