Support for people with disabilities discussed

Manama, Aug. 31 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, met member of the Council of Representatives, MP Ibrahim Khalid Al-Nafaie, in the presence of the heads and members of people with disabilities’ societies. He discussed with them areas of cooperation between the Labour and Social Development Ministry and civil society organisations that are interested in people with determination (people with disabilities). Heads and members of the people with disabilities’ societies reviewed the main initiatives they are implementing to support the disabled, discover their talent, motivate them and create a suitable environment for them to showcase their skills. They also shed light on the main challenges facing them in carrying out their mission towards people with disabilities to the fullest. The minister commended the efforts and role of the Council of Representatives to highlight the needs of the citizens, and meet them in coordination with the Executive branch. Humaidan underlined the Labour Ministry’s constant keenness to ensure easy procedures for the citizens and society, especially those related to people with disabilities. He affirmed the kingdom’s great interest in providing social protection and comprehensive care for people with disabilities, noting that the Labour MInistry will spare no effort in order to remove all obstacles facing such societies, and provide the necessary training for people with determination to facilitate their access to the labour market. MP Ibrahim Khalid Al-Nafaie and heads of societies related to people with disabilities lauded the Labour Ministry’s efforts to meet the citizens’ needs, praising the financial support granted to NGOs to enhance their ability to implement initiatives aimed at serving various social segments.
