Bahrain participates in GCC e-Government Executive Committee meeting

Manama, Sep. 5 (BNA): Acting Chief Executive Officier of the Information and e-Government Authority (iGA), Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, led the kingdom’s delegation to the 21st meeting of the GCC e-Government Executive Committee, held recently in Riyadh, with the participation of CEOs and directors-generals of e-government authorities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The participants discussed the report of the GCC Secretariat-General on the implementation of the resolutions of the GCC e-Government Executive Committee during its previous meeting.
They also discussed a number of topics, including the implementation of the initiatives of the GCC e-government strategy, and the adoption of a number of recommendations in order to update and enrich the electronic content of GCC states’ e-portals.
The committee also reviewed the outcomes of the meetings of the technical committees and approved their recommendations, was informed about the progress of the implementation of the GCC strategic cybersecurity plan and was updated on the progress of e-services delivered by the GCC joint e-services team.
During the meeting, Bahrain introduced the updated model for measuring the performance of the GCC e-strategy, which was adopted by the participants.
The GCC e-Government Executive Committee’s meeting is held periodically to enhance cooperation mechanisms. It is a platform for GCC countries to take advantage of each other’s experiences and exchange expertise in the e-government field.
