Minister: ICT sector contributed to positive economic growth in Bahrain

Manama, Sep. 7 (BNA): Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, has stressed that Bahrain’s interest in the information and communications technology (ICT) as a priority sector, has supported the positive growth of the national economy, and will contribute to attaining more achievements, under the comprehensive development march spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The minister pointed out that ICT is among the sectors that promote creativity and innovation, which will benefit the national economy and accelerate growth across various vital sectors in the kingdom. The minister made the statements as he received here the Chairman of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Ajit Pai, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the US Ambassador to Bahrain, Justin Siberell. Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa welcomed the delegation, and reviewed the aspects of the on-going cooperation between the two countries in the field of ICT, as well as ways to enhance them to achieve their common aspirations in this regard. The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the ICT sector at the level of global economy, in addition to issues of mutual interest.
