LNG project to start production soon



SANA'A, April 07 (Saba) - Ministry of Oil and Mineral denied Tuesday
that the global financial crisis has effected Yemen Liquefied
Natural Gas (LNG) project, with a total cost of around $4 billion.

Speaking to the independent newsyemen.net, undersecretary of the
Ministry Abdul-Malek Alamah said that the LNG project would start
production in the third quarter of 2009.

The Yemeni official noted that the project is the largest industrial
investment in Yemen, affirmed that the plant would have capacity to
produce 6.7 million tonnes per year of LNG.

French energy giant Total is the main shareholder in Yemen LNG with
39.6 percent, while U.S. Hunt Oil holds 17.2 percent.
