Cabinet Affairs Minister meets former UN General Assembly President

New York, Sept. 27 (BNA): Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Mutawa met today at the headquarters of Bahrain Mission to the United Nations in New York, the USA, with former President of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés. The meeting was attended by President of the HRH Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Award for Sustainable Development Shaikh Hussam bin Isa Al Khalifa. The UN General Assembly endorsed in its 73rd session, under the presidency of María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, the initiative of HRH the Premier, declaring April 5th as the International Day of Conscience. The Cabinet Affairs Minister conveyed the greetings and appreciation of HRH the Prime Minister to María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés for her efforts during her presidency of the UN General Assembly to bolster international cooperation to promote development, security and peace. He stressed keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to enhance cooperation with the UN as well as regional and international organisations to foster global security, stability and growth. The cabinet Affairs Minister underlined keenness of HRH the Premier on international cooperation, noting that the initiative endorsed by the UN in declaring April 5th as an International Day of Conscience aims to motivate the international community to go ahead with the efforts to boost people’s welfare. He also pointed out that “Bahrain Visions Forum..Common Visions for a Successful Future”, which is held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings, reflects Bahrain’s keenness to back the international efforts to promote security and sustainable development. On her part, María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés expressed heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Bahrain, describing it as a pioneering model in supporting the international community in the security and development fields. She lauded HRH the Premier’s initiative regarding the International Day of Conscience, stressing its importance in promoting international efforts to foster security and development. The meeting was also attended by Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the UN Jamal Faris Al Ruwaie.
