DERASAT chairman meets UN official

New York, Sept. 28 (BNA): Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (DERASAT) board of trustees’ chairman Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa met UNDP Human Development Report Office director Pedro Pedro Conceição. He commended cooperation between DERASAT and the United Nations, stressing joint efforts to contribute to elaborating strategic thinking with the aim of supporting Sustainable Development Goals , consolidating dialogue and advocating the culture of tolerance and moderating as key pillars for regional stability and prosperity and catalyst for human progress. He underlined the national report for human development which was issued by the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (DERASAT) in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa highlighted Bahrain’s sustainable development strides, led His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa who initiated the reform project that considers people as the driving engine of development and progress. “The Kingdom of Bahrain has established itself among countries with high human development”, he said, highlighting the Government-led plans and programmes to develop education, health and services and enhance the quality of life for people. He underlined the 2030 Bahrain Economic Vision which aims to achieve sustainable development, develop human resources through training programmes and partnership with civil society institutions to promote equal opportunities. He highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to achieve gender balance, stressing success in engaging women in all fields. He paid tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) hailing efforts to empower women in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
