Conference highlighting social work excellence opens

Manama, Oct. 5 (BNA): The second edition of the international conference for social work excellence opened today under the patronage of Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan. Sixteen Arab, European and Asian countries are taking part in the conference, being organized by the Bahrain Voluntary Work Society in cooperation with Princess Seeta bint Abdulaziz Award for Social Excellence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Princess Seeta bint Abdulaziz Award for Social Excellence secretary-general Dr. Fahd bin Hamad Al-Maghlouth stressed the importance of delivering outstanding social social services and programmes to citizens. He underscored the importance of honing the skills of humanitarian organisations, charity societies and other similar entities to promote the governance of programmes and ensure their sustainability. The 2019 edition is being attended by 120 researchers and specialists known for their wealth on knowledge in the field of voluntary social work in Bahrain and other countries. Director of NGOs support at the Ministry of Labour and Social Development Najwa Abdullatif said that more than 518 societies are operating in the field of social work in the kingdom of Bahrain. An exhibition is being held on the sidelines of the conference, highlighting NGOs activities and programmes.
