Government Forum emphasises innovation in governance

Manama, Oct. 6 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been at the forefront of adopting best practices as part of its commitment to better governance as well as to bringing efficiency in the delivery of services. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was speaking to Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the sidelines of 2019 Government Forum held under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. “We are very glad today to be recognized at the 2019 Government Forum as in line with the efforts of the Forum for the past four years to deliberate on governance architecture of the government entities in Bahrain with exposure to the international organisations, in particular, the United Nations,” he said. “We were able to host series of workshops in cooperation with ministries and relevant official entities in Bahrain and those who had participated shared challenges as well as shed light on needs and prospects for the partnership with the United Nations. We were able to streamline all these efforts with the government action plan with implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030. The signing of the Strategic Partnership Framework (SPF) in October 2017 which had 16 UN agencies is a clear roadmap as where we are heading to, and how we are supporting our national plans and what our priorities are and how our sustainable development goals are being implemented. The formulation of the follow up committee between the government of Bahrain and UN has also been a platform for our continuous partnership with United Nations. I believe a number of other measures that have been taken to implement these steps in the right track show that we are heading towards international partnerships.” The Government Forum is an encouragement to leaders within the ministry to deliver more, to be more proactive and to bring more innovative ideas to strengthen the international partnerships for Bahrain, he added.
