Yemen withdraws from a session of 120th IPU meeting as protest

SANA'A, April 09 (Saba) - At the 120th Inter-parliamentary Union
(IPU) meeting in the Ethiopian capital, the Yemeni delegation headed
by the speaker Yahya al-Rae has withdrew from a session while an
Israeli member of Knesset went to stage to deliver speech.

The move was taken by the Yemeni delegation and other Arab and
Islamic delegations as protest for continuing the Israeli occupation
for the Arab lands and its violence against the Palestinian people.

It is worth mentioning that the Yemeni delegation continued its
participation actively in the other sessions of the meeting

The sessions discussed basic human rights, democracy, the proposed
comprehensive nuclear test ban treaty and issues related to freedom
of expression in various parts of the world as well as climate
change and energy issues

Nearly 3,000 delegates are expected at the Addis summit.

The 154-member states union was established in 1889. It is based in
Geneva, Switzerland.
