Foreign Ministry holds preparatory meeting

Manama, Oct. 31 (BNA): Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa today chaired at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a preparatory meeting with concerned sides in the Kingdom of Bahrain to prepare for hosting the first meeting of the Bahraini-Hungarian Joint Economic Committee.
During the meeting, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah described the high-profile visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the friendly Republic of Hungary in April 2019 as a quantum leap and a major milestone for future strategic High-level bilateral partnership.
The Undersecretary for International Affairs said that Hungary occupies a prominent position in NATO and the European Union, noting that there is mutual consensus to consolidate political, economic, investment and cultural relations and pointing to the availability of promising investment opportunities in health, energy, technology and tourism.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah pointed out the importance of activating the memorandum of understanding for economic and technical cooperation between the two countries, signed on February 24, 2014, in order to enhance coordination and consultation within the framework of common interests and benefits.
The meeting reviewed the overall relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Hungary, reviewed all opinions and directives and elaborated ideas and proposals in line with the needs of the Kingdom in order to engage in new and fruitful prospects of bilateral relations.
It is worth mentioning that this preparatory meeting is held to coordinate the efforts of the authorities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, within the framework of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,' in preparation for hosting the first meeting of the Bahraini-Hungarian Joint Economic Committee.
Participating were the ministries of Transport and Communications, Health, Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, along with the National Oil and Gas Authority, the Information and eGovernment Authority, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the University of Bahrain and Bahrain Polytechnic.
