10 FISHERMEN ESCAPE SAILBOAT MISHAP
Gresik, E Java, April 10 (ANTARA) - A sailboat carrying 10 fishermen sank in the waters off East Java's northern coast but all of them escaped the accident.
Head of the Gresik Sea and Air Police Unit 1st Insp. Bintara confirmed the accident on Friday saying two motor boats had been sent to the scene to help evacuate the victims.
The sailboat met the accident on Tuesday while on its way from Brondong port in Lamongan to Bawean, Gresik, both in East Java.
The sailboat sank about 70 miles from the Bawean coast.
It was believed the 20-year-old sailboat sank after being hit by large fish.
All the fishermen escaped the accident but three of them were in critical condition. The three are being treated at the Ibnu Sina hospital in Gresik.***3***
