KPU ASKS FOR APOLOGY FOR LEGISLATIVE POLLS SHORTCOMINGS
Jakarta, April 10 (ANTARA) - General Elections Commission (KPU) chairman Abdul Hafiz Anshary has asked for an apology for all the shortcomings and mistakes in the implementation of the April 9 legislative polls across the country.
"We asked for an apology for any shortcoming and mistakes," Anshary said when launching the national tabulation of the election results here on Friday.
Several problems which had frequently came up during Thursday's general elections included the shortcomings of the permanent voters list (DPT) which had triggered a lot of complaints from the public.
KPU was aware of the weaknesses or shortcomings which still occur despite maximum efforts, he said, adding that his side is trying to improve the polls implementation.
In addition, KPU also expressed appreciation to all elements for their contribution which had made the election participated in by 38 national political parties and six local parties in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) province, run smoothly and peacefully.
The electoral body also appreciated the police for their services in securing the election. ***1***
