BALI'S CACAO PRODUCTION DONW 11.1 PCT
Denpasar, Bali, April 10 (ANTARA) - The cacao production of the Indonesian resort province of Bali in 2008 fell 11.1 percent from 7,457 tons in 2007 to 6,710 tons, a plantation offical of the local government said.
"The 6,710 tons were produced from 9,624 hectares of cacao productive plantations. Bali has plantations covering 13,490 hectares," head of Bali's Plantation Service, Gede Ardhana said here on Friday.
He said that Bali province had made various efforts to increase the volumes of its cacao production such as expansion of plantation areas and an intesive maintenance and fertilizing system.
Actually, the intensive efforts had succeeded in raising the plantation productivity from the average 632 kg per hectare in 2007 to 777 kg per hectare in 2008, he said.***2***
