Speaker: Bahraini-Moroccan relations progressing steadily

Rabat, Nov. 10 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has stressed that the deep-rooted solid Bahraini-Moroccan relations are progressing steadily across various fields thanks to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco. She also lauded the existing distinguished bilateral cooperation, as well as the strong and effective parliamentary cooperation, which, she said, contributes to strengthening strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries in various sectors. The speaker made the statements as she concluded her official parliamentary visit to Morocco, along with a parliamentary delegation. During the visit, the speaker and the delegation held meetings with Morocco’s Prime Minister, Saadeddine El-Othmani, and Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, as well as Secretary-General of the Moroccan National Human Rights Council, Mounir bin Saleh. During the meetings, they discussed issues and topics of mutual interest and ways to bolster bilateral cooperation. They also asserted firm stances in support of security and stability in the two countries, and affirmed the need to push economic, diplomatic and human rights forward. The visit also witnessed a session of official parliamentary talks, co-chaired by Speaker Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, and her Moroccan House of Representatives counterpart, Habib Al Maliki. A memorandum of understanding was signed between both sides to activate the role of friendship committees and promote bilateral parliamentary cooperation. The speaker also held meetings with a number of GCC countries’ ambassadors to Morocco, and discussed with them ways to enhance GCC parliamentary and diplomatic cooperation, as well as joint Arab action. She hailed the fruitful outcome of her official visit, commending the role played by Bahrain’s Ambassador to Morocco, Khalid Al-Musallam, to ensure the success of the visit.
