HH Shaikh Nasser highlights royal support for youth

Manama, Nov. 13 (BNA): Representative of HM the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has stressed that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s interest in Bahraini youth is authentic and based on a long-term cultural vision that touches on the necessities of development and prosperity, as young people are the driving force for progress. HH Shaikh Nasser affirmed that youth have contributed significantly to the progress boom witnessed by the kingdom in the economic, infrastructure, education and sports fields, among others. HH Shaikh Nasser added that the development in the industrial, commercial and entrepreneurship fields has required the launch of the “Opportunities” programme, as one of the initiatives of the national programme to develop the youth and sports sector in Bahrain, “Estijabah” (Response), through providing them with training opportunities in many companies and institutions. In an opinion piece published in the new issue of the “Mayadeen” Magazine, HH Shaikh Nasser highlighted HM King Hamad’s vision and in-depth analysis of the issues of this social group, in light of the Bahrain Youth Strategy, launched in 2005, and revealed the royal support for youth in the coming period. Since 2005, the youth movement has lived up to the royal expectations and shined in all walks of life, including sports, and other creativity fields, thus contributing to raising Bahrain’s status at various gatherings, he said. HH Shaikh Nasser highlighted HM the King’s directives on the need to provide training opportunities for Bahraini youth in various fields so as to make them the first option for the labour market, by developing and refining their skills through building partnerships with companies and institutions so that they could play their national role in building Bahrain’s real wealth. Therefore, the objectives of the “Opportunities” programme are to provide grants and training opportunities for Bahraini youth in companies and institutions to develop the capabilities of national competencies, enhance their skills and refine their expertise through specialised courses in various fields, he said, adding that the ultimate goal is to increase youth’s competence and build their confidence through practical skills that would help them to be creative, build their future and be well-prepared to enter the labour market or join the entrepreneurship field. Concluding his article, HH Shaikh Nasser affirmed that thanks to HM the King’s wisdom and leadership, as well as the determination of Bahraini youth to take up all challenges, the kingdom will succeed in achieving the sustainable development goals, expressing confidence in the Bahraini youth.
