Shura delegation meets Iceland president

Reykjavík, Nov. 19 (BNA): Icelandic President, Gudni Johannesson, has hosted a reception in honour of the parliamentary and political delegations participating in the Women Leaders Global Forum 2019, currently held here. President Johannesson delivered a speech in which he welcomed the delegations, and praised the role by women at the international level. The kingdom’s Shura Council’s delegation to the forum expressed thanks and appreciation to Iceland for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to the participants, praising Iceland’s hosting of the headquarters of the Women Leaders Global Forum. Members of the delegation, including Shura Council’s Legislative Affairs Commiittee member, Dalal Jassim Al-Zayed, and Women Leaders Global Forum’s Ambassador, Dr. Ebtissam Mohammed Saleh Al-Dallal, held meetings with participants from friendly countries. They also met the CEO of “Plan International”, Anne-Birgitte Albrectsen, who lauded Bahrain’s great interest in empowering women. They also met Hanna Birna, Iceland’s former Interior Minister and Chair of the Executive Board of Women Political Leaders. During the meetings, the delegation affirmed that Bahrain had built distinguished diplomatic and parliamentary relations with various countries to achieve more cooperation and coordination in fields related to women and their empowerment.
