During the meeting, the Ambassador congratulated the Belgian Speaker on her new position, wishing her success.
She also reviewed with her the experience of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of empowering and advancing women and achieving gender equality, thanks to the wise vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and that of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), in establishing the Supreme Council for Women, and the formulation of the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, which works to guarantee all women's rights, thus ensuring stability at the family level, equal treatment with men, and empowering women based on their competence.
She also briefed her about the Award of HRH Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa for Bahraini Women Empowerment and Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women's Empowerment as platforms aimed at motivating women to contribute to the development process at the national and international levels.
The Speaker of the Belgian Senate expressed her delight over the Kingdom of Bahrain’s practice in empowering women, referring to in this regard the Belgian’s Quota System for women in order to facilitate their access to leadership positions.
The two sides also discussed relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them, especially in the legislative field, in light of the invitation extended by the Chairman of the Shura Council in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, to his Belgian counterpart. The Belgian Speaker welcomed the invitation, noting that the designated meeting will follow on with some of the changes expected in the Belgian political scene.
