Kyrgyz FM, ISESCO Director General discuss opportunities for expanding cooperation

Bishkek, Nov.20, 2019. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov and Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Salim M. AlMalik discussed promising projects and opportunities to expand cooperation.
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz MFA, the bilateral meeting was held on the eve of the 40th Session of the UNESCO General Conference in Paris.
During the meeting, FM Aidarbekov congratulated Dr. Al Malik on his recent election to the post of ISESCO Director General and wished him success in this responsible post, stressing that the Organization is facing the noble goals of strengthening mutual understanding, unity and solidarity among member states and a worthy representation of the Islamic world in the international arena.
The sides noted significant potential and opportunities for cooperation among ISESCO member states have not yet been realized. In this regard, promising projects and opportunities for expanding and deepening cooperation in the entire range of ISESCO activities were discussed.
Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Aidarbekov assured Kyrgyzstan will continue to actively participate in the activities of ISESCO and support efforts to reform the Organization to successfully address strategic goals.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Jamankulov.
The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) was founded by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in May 1979. With 54 member states, ISESCO is one of the largest international Islamic organizations and specializes in the fields of education, science and culture. Its headquarters are in Rabat, Morocco.
