SCW Secretary-General receives French MP

Manama, Nov. 25 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Hala Al-Ansari, received French MP and Chairperson of the Bahraini-French Friendship Society, Béatrice Piron, at the SCW’s headquarters in Riffa. Al-Ansari expressed the SCW’s constant interest in taking advantage of the French expertise in the field of legislation and laws that support women’s presence in various fields and at all levels, as well as other advanced legislative legislation and laws in this regard so as to develop the women-related legal and legislative system in the kingdom, in a way that would be consistent with national and social specificity. The Secretary-General cited the SCW’s recent efforts in preparing and issuing the National Gender Balance Report on measuring the “Bahrain Index” in the field of gender balance (2017-2018), noting that the report indicated an increase in the gender balance index within various fields from 0.60 in 2016 to 0.64 for the average period of 2017-2018. French MP, Béatrice Piron, lauded the achievements of the SCW, under the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and SCW President, praising the support enjoyed by Bahraini women, which, she said, has enabled them to reach the highest decision-making posts. She expressed admiration for the kingdom’s accelerated progress in the field of women, noting that Bahrain’s experience in field of women’s advancement deserves international respect and appreciation. She also recalled the visit of the SCW’s delegation to Paris last year, and their meetings with French MPs. Béatrice Piron hailed the theme of the Bahraini Women’s Day 2019 –Women in the Higher Education of Future Sciences, praising Bahraini women’s qualitative presence in the fields of modern sciences that are related to information and communication technology, industrial intelligence, machine learning and others.
