N SUMATRA BOOKS BALANCE OF TRADE SURPLUS

Medan, Apr 13 (ANTARA) - North Sumatra's balance of trade in the Jan-Feb 2009 period still booked a 527.32 million US dollars surplus, although its exports continued to decline.

"North Sumatra's exports in the Jan-Feb 2009 period reached 770.57 million US dollars, while its imports 243.25 million US dollars, thus still leaving a surplus," Head of the North Sumatra Central Bureau of Statistics office Alimuddin Sidabalok said here Sunday.
He said that this year both North Sumatra's exports and imports had declined due to the global crisis.
