CID arrests alleged mastermind in Hasina attack in B'desh

Kolkata, Apr 12 (PTI) An alleged mastermind in the
grenade attack on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in
1999 was Sunday arrested from the eastern fringe of the city.

Mufti Ibrahim allegedly the mastermind in 1999 grenade
attack on Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh and the nephew of Huji
commander,Mufti Hannan, now in custody was arrested from an
apartment at Ashwini Nagar in Baguihati of North 24 Parganas
district, a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) source
said.

Ibrahim crossed over to India five years ago and
was running an umbrella shop in Baguihati area, the source
said.

Although there were reports that he had undergone
plastic surgery on his face, the CID said it was yet to be
verified.

"We have taken him in custody and are interrogating
him", the source said.

When asked whether he was involved in any kind of
anti-social activities in India, "So far there is no such
report but we can be sure about it after interrogation, " the
