Kyrgyz vice PM meets with UNODC executive director

Bishkek, Dec. 3, 2019 / Kabar /. Kyrgyz Vice Prime Minister Jenish Razakov met in Vienna with Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, General Director of the UN Office, Yuri Fedotov, as part of his working trip to Austria, the press service of the government reported.
Jenish Razakov expressed gratitude for the assistance and support provided to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in strengthening and increasing the country's potential in the field of combating drug trafficking, effective border management to prevent cross-border criminal activity, judicial reform, the fight against corruption, organized crime, money laundering and the financing of terrorism, prevention and treatment of drug addicted and infected with HIV / AIDS.
The sides noted that stable and sustainable development of the country is impossible without ensuring a high level of security, including by protecting against both internal and external threats and modern challenges.
The vice prime minister of Kyrgyzstan informed about the meeting of the state coordinating committee for drug control, which was successfully held in Bishkek on Nov. 20 this year, during which the need to conduct drug trafficking surveys was discussed.
In turn, Yuri Fedotov noted that the projects implemented in the republic with the support of foreign partners are developing successfully. In particular, the main criterion for UNODC is to provide practical assistance to member states. He drew attention to the fact that partnership with the Kyrgyz Republic is a priority for UNODC.
At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed their readiness for further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
