FM Aidarbekov meets with his counterparts from Greece, Ireland and Spain

Bishkek, Dec.6, 2019. /Kabar/. As part of participation in the 26th meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization for Cooperation and Security in Europe (OSCE) in Bratislava, Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov held number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts. Thus, Aidarbekov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Nikolaos Dendias, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ireland Simon Coveney, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation of Spain Fernando Valenzuela, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan said. In the course of the meeting with the Greek Foreign Minister, the sides stressed the need to develop bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all areas of mutual interest. The parties discussed the issue of holding political consultations between the Foreign Ministries in 2020. Cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union, including cooperation between the countries within the framework of the New EU Strategy for Central Asia also was considered. Foreign Ministers Aidarbekov and Coveney discussed further development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Ireland, strengthening of the legal framework, development of inter-parliamentary cooperation and interaction within the UN and other international organizations. The Kyrgyz and Spain foreign ministers discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including the development of economic, cultural and humanitarian relations. The sides highlighted the importance of filling the bilateral treaty and legal basis, as well as discussed the events, to be held between the EU and Central Asia in 2020 and outlined concrete ways of cooperation. On Dec. 5-6 this year, the 26th OSCE Ministerial Council is held in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Kyrgyz Republic delegation, headed by Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov, is taking part in the work of the meeting. Chingiz Aidarbekov is expected to address the Council, as well as to hold a number of bilateral meeting with the OSCE management and heads of delegations of the OSCE member states. The Ministerial Council is the central decision-making and governing body of the OSCE. The meeting, held annually, provides the Foreign Ministers of the 57 OSCE participating States an opportunity to review and assess the Organization’s activities and strengthen the dialogue on security issues in the OSCE area.
