Bahrain Embassy to UK celebrates national days

London, Dec. 13 (BNA): The Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in London hosted a reception on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain's celebration of its National Days and to mark the 1783 establishment of the state of Bahrain as an Arab Muslim country at the hands of its founder Ahmed Al-Fateh, the anniversary of its accession to the United Nations and the anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Enthronement.
Deputy Ambassador Advisor Hamad Waheed Sayyar, conveyed the greetings of the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of Ireland, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and pointed to the development of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries that witnessed several official visits by officials of both countries during the past year.
He hailed the exchanged visits that have definitely strengthened bilateral relations at all levels, especially in the fields of education and health, pointing to the establishment of the Royal College of Surgeons in Bahrain and the role it plays in the field of education and stressing the keen desire of the two countries to double the existing trade exchange to benefit both sides.
Mr. Sayyar also referred to the success achieved by the Kingdom of Bahrain in the past two decades since His Majesty King Hamad took office as many achievements were made at all levels and in all fields to strengthen the leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the region.
Among the prominent examples, he cited the pioneering role of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the region, especially in supporting and empowering women, the issuance of a family law that strengthens the protection of the rights of Bahraini women and children and its pioneering role in the field of combating trafficking in persons.
He also mentioned the Kingdom of Bahrain's pioneering experience in the region in promoting inter-religious tolerance, especially through the (Declaration of the Kingdom of Bahrain) which seeks to promote peace, tolerance and coexistence not only in the Kingdom of Bahrain but across the world.
For her part, Ambassador Iseult Fitzgerald, Director of Middle East and North Africa Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in the Republic of Ireland praised the embassy’s interest in developing bilateral relations between the two countries and conveyed the aspirations of the Irish government to enhance and double the economic and trade exchange between the two friendly countries.
Also attending the ceremony were MP Maureen O'Sullivan, Vice Chair of the Human Rights Committee in the Irish Parliament, Ms. Marylee Wall, Deputy Director of Protocols at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in the Republic of Ireland, Nael Al-Jubeir, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Ireland, and Mr. Ahmed Younus, the Secretary General of the Arab-Irish Chamber of Commerce, in addition to a number of senior officials at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, diplomats accredited to the Republic of Ireland, businessmen, media professionals and academicians.
