CEXIM WILL PROVIDE 899 MILLION US DOLLARS TO BUILD PLN'S POWER PLANTS

Jakarta, Apr 13 (ANTARA) - State power company PT PLN will soon get a 899 million US dollars loan from the China Exim Bank for the construction of three coal-fired power plants (PLTUs), in Pacitan, Pelabuhan Ratu, and Aceh.

"The loan agreement will be signed in May, and disbursement is expected in August this year," PLN president director Fahmi Mochtar sat in Jakarta Monday.

Fahmi said the loan was part of the cost of the first stage 10,000 megawatts (MW) crash program.

He said the three power plants consist of PLTU Pacitan with a capacity of 2X300 MW, to be built by the contractor Dongfang, PLTU Pelabuhan Ratu, 3X300 MW, with Shanghai Electric contractor, and PTLU Aceh, 2X100 MW, with contractor Sinohydro.

However, Fahmi did not give the details on the interest of the loan imposed by the creditor.

However, he added, even half of the cost for the realization of the first stage 10,000 MW crash program had yet to be sought.

In the meantime, the cost for realizing the second stage 10,000 MW crash program will be sought under a cooperation with the Association of 26 Regional Development Banks.

The second stage crash program will cover the building of 14 power plants in places other than Java island.

"A syndication of regional development banks across the country had made a commitment to provide up to Rp4.5 trillion, " he added.

Since the first stage 10,000 MW crash program had been launched, several domestic banks had reached agreement to fund the coal-fired power plants (PLTUs).
