GIA lists 63 projects cost $215 mln in 1st quarter of 2009
SANA'A, April 13 (Saba) - The General Investment Authority (GIA) has
registered 63 requests for investment licenses in the first quarter
of 2009 at a total cost of $215 million.
According to GIA's statistics, the number of the registered projects
amounted to 29 projects in February compared to 17 projects in
January and 17 projects in March 2009.
Regarding the sectors, the industrial sector came first with 27
projects followed by the services sector with 14 projects and the
agricultural sector with 11 projects.
The capital Sana'a came in the first rank with 30 projects while
Aden five projects, seven projects in Hadramout, four projects in
Lahj and one project in Abyan.
Yemeni investors came on the top of licenses requests for setting up
investment projects with 55 projects followed by Kuwaiti investors
with three projects and one project for each of Egyptian, Lebanese,
Syrian, Iranian, and Italian businessmen.
According to the GIA's report, these projects will make available
about 2161 work opportunities.
