Deputy PM Omurbekova attends ceremony of honoring best sportsmen of Kyrgyzstan on results 2019

Bishkek, Dec.24, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Altynai Omurbekova took part in the ceremony of honoring best sportsmen of the Kyrgyz Republic on results of 2019, the Government’s press service said.
“The history of Kyrgyz sport is rich in bright personalities and memorable victories. In recent years, Kyrgyz sport has made a great leap forward. We are proud of the results of domestic athletes in the international arena. Today, thanks to the successes and achievements of our athletes around the world, the flag is flown and the national anthem of our country is played," she said.
"The sport is not only about physical improvement of the body, but also about spiritual and moral education. In 2019, domestic athletes won 1 thousand 300 medals at international tournaments, including 442 gold, 367 silver and 497 bronze medals. Excellent results of our sportsmen in the international arena, upbringing of new generation and development of sport in the whole country are the result of tireless work of coaches and the whole coaching staff," the deputy PM said.
Speaking about the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020, Altynai Omurbekova reminded that today Kyrgyzstan has five licenses won by Aisuluu Tynybekova (wrestling), Denis Petrashov (swimming), Yulia Andreyeva (track and field), Atabek Azizbekov (Greco-Roman wrestling) and Daria Maslova (track and field).
"In total, we plan to win 21 licenses in 13 sports. We also place great hopes on Paralympic athletes. Another important sporting event of international level is the 4th World Nomad Games, which will be held in Turkey in 2020. These Games, which make a significant contribution to the development of national sports, have appeared in our country, becoming one of the country's brands. We are confident that in 2020 our sportsmen will perform with dignity in these competitions and win prizes," she added.
As a result of the solemn event the best athletes and their coaches were awarded.
Note that the issue of promoting physical culture and sports is one of the priorities in the National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2040, in the Government Program of the Kyrgyz Republic "Unity. Confidence. Creation" and the Sports Kyrgyzstan for 2018-2022 Program.
In order to support national sport, the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic decided to increase the salaries of coaches and staff of physical culture and sport institutions. For this purpose, KGS 103 million were earmarked in the national budget for 2019 and KGS 163 million in the national budget for 2020.
