FLOODS INUNDATE 590 HOUSES IN INDRAGIRI HULU
Pekanbaru, April 14 (ANTARA) - Floods have submerged around 590 houses at six sub districts in Indragiri Hulu (Inhu) District, Riau Province, since Monday (April 13).
"The floods inundate 590 houses accommodating 3,840 people of 547 families," Adrian Zulfahmi, head of the Indragiri Hulu social affair office, said here on Tuesday.
The six flood-affected sub districts are Batang Peranap, Peranap, Kelayang, Siberida, Batang Cenaku and Batang Gansal.
The flooding was triggered by the overflowing of Indragiri and Cenaku rivers, he said.
The floodwaters reaching a height of up to 75 centimeters, also submerged around 339 hectares of agricultural and plantation areas, and 20 fish ponds.
