MEGAWATI, SRI SULTAN DISCUSS LATEST NATIONAL ISSUES

Jakarta, April 14 (ANTARA) - Indonesian Democratic Party- Struggle (PDIP) Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri and Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X met here on Tuesday to discuss the latest national issues, a PDIP spokesman said.

"Ibu Mega said that in her meeting with Sri Sultan they did not discuss a certain agreement because it was an ordinary cordial meeting," Pramono Anung, the PDIP secretary general, said after the meeting at Megawati's residence on Teuku Umar street in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta.

In that meeting, Megawati was accompanied by her husband, Taufiq Kiemas, Pramono Anung, and chairman of the PDIP faction in the House of Representatives (DPR) Tjahjo Kumolo.

According to Pramono, Megawati and Sri Sultan discussed matters related to the domestic situation.

But he said Sri Sultan was unable to be present at another meeting which was attended among others by former President Abdurraham "Gus Dur" Wahid, Rizal Ramli, and a number of political party leaders.

Also present were Crescent and Star Party (PBB) Central Executive Board chairman MS Kaban and the party's functionary Mochtar Ngabalin, and a number of PDIP politicians such as Pramono Anung, Tjahjo Kumolo, and Daryatmo Mardiyanto.

The meeting with Megawati to discuss fair and honest election in relation with alleged violations in the permanent voters lists (DPTs) started after People's Conscious Party (Hanura) chairman Wiranto and Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party Supervisory Board chairman Prabowo Subianto had arrived.
