A terrorist linked to Samjhauta also involved in 26/11: Pak
Islamabad, Apr 14 (PTI) Pakistan Tuesday said it had
"information" that a terrorist linked to the Samjhauta Express
blasts was also involved in the Mumbai terror strikes, a day
after India ridiculed it for seeking slain Anti-Terrorism
Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare's statement on the probe into
the train attack.
Interior Ministry chief Rehman Malik, talking to media
in the southwestern city of Quetta, explained why Pakistan was
insisting on Karkare's statement on his probe into the 2007
blasts on the cross-border train.
Islamabad yesterday asked New Delhi to provide further
details on 26/11, including the statement of the top
anti-terror police officer, who was killed during the Mumbai
attacks.
Malik contended that Karkare's statement was needed as
Pakistan had "information" that a terrorist involved in the
attack on the Samjhauta Express was also involved in the
Mumbai incident.
However, he did not give further details.
Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma had
yesterday ridiculed Pakistan for seeking the statement of
Karkare.
"It is unconnected. It has nothing to do with 26/11. It
is diversionary tactic," Sharma had said. PTI RHL
