13 Iranian drug smugglers to be sentenced in next June

SANA'A, April 14 (Saba) - The Appeal Criminal Court in Sana'a is to
deliver the sentence in the case of 13 Iranian accused of smuggling
cannabis into Yemen on 23 June.

In the court's hearing, chaired by judge Mohammed al-Hakimi, the
prosecution asked the court to hold the case to deliver its sentence
against the convicted persons.

In November 2008, the primary court in Sana'a convicted the 13
Iranians of smuggling over 3 tons of cannabis into Yemen last year
and entering the Yemeni territorial waters illegally.

It is worth to mention that the accused were arrested end of March
2008 on board of a boat carrying an Iranian flag by Yemeni
coastguard forces in cooperation with the international coalition
forces in the Arabian Sea.
