KPU PREPARING RULES FOR PRESIDENTIAL RACE
Jakarta, April 15 (ANTARA) - The General Election Commission (KPU) is now preparing the electoral body's rules for the upcoming presidential and vice presidential race.
KPU member Andi Nurpati on the sidelines of a KPU plenary meeting here Tuesday said that the rules discussed were about ballotting and vote counting at polling stations and about presidential campaigns.
The discussion also touched on the vote count recapitulation at the election committees at sub-district level (PPK), election committees at district and provincial levels, he said.
"In principle the rules will almost be the same as for the legislative polls. We discussed the number of polling booths needed," he said.
The difference is that eligible voters in the July 8 presidenttial race can reach the maximum number of 800 voters at every polling station (TPS), while in the recent legislative polls, the maximum number of voters was 500 , he said.
In case of additional voters, at the upcoming presidential race they are allowed to report to the TPS personnel on duty on polling day at the latest, compared with that of the recent legislative polls where they should report not later than three days before polling day, Nurpati said, adding they should fill the A7 form before giving their votes.
Ballotting would start at 08:00 a.m. and end at 01;00 p.m. local time, and be followed by vote counting, he said.
In addition, the plenary meeting also discussed ballot papers design for the presidential election.
The KPU would consult the House of Represntatives (DPR) about the ballot design, Nurpati said, explaining that the KPU had prepared five designs for the ballot papers.
To date, the Democratic Party (PD) and the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP) have announced their presidential hopefuls.
