SPEAKER TO MEET CHAIRMEN OF ALL HOUSE SPECIAL COMMITTEES
Jakarta, April 15 (ANTARA) - House of Representatives (DPR) Agung Laksono is to meet with the chairmen of all House special committees (Pansus) to make sure a number of bills will continue to be deliberated until the lawmakers' term expires.
"I will invite the chairmen of all House special committees that are discussing new bills to a meeting on Thursday," Laksono said here on Wednesday.
He said the House would give priority to a number of special committees which were expected to accomplish their tasks. These special committees included those drafting bills on the corruption court, the status and composition of the DPR, Regional Legislative Assemblies (DPRDs), Regional Representative Council (DPD) and state secrets.
"We hope that the on-going deliberations of a number of bills will be finished soon ," the House Speaker said.
He said the DPR had accomplished deliberations on 153 bills and it was expected that until the end of its term it would have finished a total of 175 bills.
The House entered a new sitting period on April 13, 2009 but commissions and committees have not yet met to continue deliberations on important issues due to the business of a number of legislators in the face of the April 9 legislative elections.***
