US TO DEPORT 40 INDONESIANS

Jakarta, April 15 (ANTARA) - The United States will deport 40 Indonesians on April 21, 2009 for immigration violations, the Foreign Ministry said in a press statement here on Wednesday.

The ministry said the US immigration service in Washington DC had notified the Indonesian embassy of its plan to deport the Indonesian citizens. The notification was made on March 31, 2009.

It said that the 40 Indonesians were part of about 100 foreigners the United States government would deport to their respective countries.

According to the foreign ministry, the 40 Indonesians would be deported using a special chartered airplane on April 21 from the Boeing Air Field embarkation point in Tocoma, Seattle. They will be flown to Jakarta via the Hawai-Guam-Manila-Phnom Penh route.

They are scheduled to arrive in Jakarta on April 30, 2009 at 4.30 pm.

The United States has so far deported Indonesians using charter planes two times. The first time was when it deported 54 Indonesians on April 10, 2008. On August 14, 2008, it also deported 60 Indonesian citizens.

The foreign ministry said that the sending back home of the Indonesians was carried out in coordination with the US government and all representatives of the government of Indonesia in the United States.

In connection with the planned deportation, the Indonesian government had stated it respects all immigration regulations in force in the United States and is committed to protecting its citizens staying in that country, including those domiciled illegally.***
