Kyrgyzstan sends humanitarian aid to China to support efforts in combating coronavirus spread

Bishkek, Feb.18, 2020. /Kabar/. The Government of Kyrgyzstan held a regular meeting of the Republican Headquarters for Preventing Import and Further Spread of Coronavirus in the Kyrgyz Republic, the Government’s press service said.
At the meeting, Deputy PM Altynai Omurbekova noted the Headquarters takes all necessary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. Today there are no coronavirus patients in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the information available at the Kyrgyz Embassy in China, as of Feb. 18, there are no citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic among those infected with the virus.
According to the Health Ministry of the republic, the Kyrgyz Embassy in Japan is in constant contact with Kyrgyzstani on the Diamond Princess cruise liner who is suspected of having contracted coronavirus.
The Embassy keeps in touch with the Japanese Foreign and Health Ministries.
According to information from the competent Japanese state bodies, the assumption about infection of the Kyrgyz citizen is based on the fact that his cabin neighbor has a coronavirus.
The condition of Kyrgyzstani is satisfactory, there is no fever and no medical treatment is provided. The patient is under observation. According to his own words, he is feeling well.
Also during the meeting, it was noted that Kyrgyzstan has sent humanitarian assistance to China to support efforts in combating the spread of coronavirus infection.
The cargo was formed in accordance with the request of the Chinese side (antiseptic and disinfectants, medical personal protective equipment).
Minister of Health Kosmosbek Cholponbayev recalled all checkpoints on the state border of the Kyrgyz Republic are continuing to operate in a reinforced regime, and the necessary preventive measures have been taken.
Temporary observation rooms with all necessary supplies have been set up. Every visitor from countries with a poor epidemiological situation undergoes thermometric and laboratory examination of samples from the upper respiratory tract.
The National Virology Laboratory is prepared to conduct research, complies with all international standards and is accredited by the World Health Organization (WHO).
“We are receiving additional batches of rapid tests to detect the virus,” he added.
Also, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has prepared 413 beds at reception and accommodation facilities: 100 beds at the Torugart checkpoint in Naryn Oblast, 100 beds at the Irkeshtam checkpoint in Osh Oblast; 183 beds have been set up at Manas International Airport; and 30 beds at the airport in the city of Osh. If necessary, the number of beds will be increased.
